Description

Visit Keukenhof, a local tulip field, and the home of Johannes Vermeer in Delft. Includes a Delft’s Blue pottery demonstration at De Candelaer. Book now!

Experience the quintessential colours and culture of the Netherlands on this full-day journey from Amsterdam. Your morning begins with a scenic drive to the world-famous Keukenhof Gardens, where you’ll wander through 32 hectares of vibrant floral displays. Before entering the park, we’ll make a special stop at a local tulip field for those iconic “sea of flowers” photos.

In the afternoon, we travel to Delft, the “City of Blue” and the birthplace of the Dutch Master Johannes Vermeer. As you walk the same canals that inspired The Girl with a Pearl Earring, you’ll discover why this city was the center of the Dutch Golden Age. We will visit De Candelaer, a traditional, family-run pottery factory, to see a live demonstration of the hand-painting techniques used to create authentic Delft Blue.

The day concludes with a guided walking tour through the medieval center:

  • Vermeer’s Legacy: Walk past the sites of his former home and the views that shaped his masterpieces.
  • Saturday Highlights: Immerse yourself in the bustling Saturday Street Market at the Market Square and the charming antique stalls.
  • Sunday Note: While the city remains a “living masterpiece,” please note that the Old and New Churches (where Vermeer is buried) are closed to visitors on Sundays.

The tour provides seamless round-trip transportation, starting and ending near Amsterdam Centraal Station.

Activity & Weather Note

To fully enjoy the charm of Keukenhof’s gardens and Delft’s historic cobblestone streets, please expect to walk approximately 10,000 steps throughout the day; comfortable walking shoes are highly recommended.

Please check the local forecast before the tour starts to dress appropriately. This experience runs rain or shine, and the Dutch weather can be unpredictable—bringing a waterproof jacket or umbrella is always a smart move!
